Bayview Wines receive 2 bronze medals.

On March 2nd, 2009 the 56th Royal Easter Show Wine Awards took place in Auckland with the tasting of 1562 entrant wines from around New Zealand. The Royal Easter Show Wine Awards is the oldest wine competition in New Zealand and always has an excellent turn out of New Zealand's best wines.

Bayview Estate entered its 2008 Sauvignon Blanc and 2008 Gewürztraminer and received a bronze medal for both wines.

"We were so happy about the result, of course we were aiming for gold but bronze is a fabulous result for our first vintage and for the first wine from the Sounds. It establishes the Marlborough Sounds as a viable viticulture area that can produce good quality wines."

2009 has been a harder year for everyone in Marlborough with a cold, wet and windy spring followed by a wet and on average colder summer. We are hoping for some good weather in March and April to finish off the ripening process and produce some more great wines.

Once harvest is over with we will start selling our wines around the country. Our main point of difference from most other wineries is that Bayview Estate wines are one of the few vineyards in New Zealand who complete all viticultural practices by hand. We hand prune, leaf pluck, shoot thin and 100% hand harvest in the pursuit of perfection. We are a member of sustainable wine growing and wherever possible we take the organic approach to grape growing and winemaking.

We produce pure wines, which truly reflect the Terroir of the Marlborough Sounds.

Thank you to everyone who has worked in and helped develop the vineyard over the past 4 years, we really appreciate how dedicated you have been to help us achieve our goal to produce top wines.
